Dear GMNP Members,
I hope you’ve been having a busy and fun summer. I’ve had the chance to visit and meet with a number of you over the past month, which is probably my favorite part of the work at GMNP. This included a visit to Thief River Falls, where I was able to tour DigiKey and see their phenomenal electronics distribution facility, and joined the ribbon-cutting of the Discovery Place childcare center (more below).
I was also able to join the West Central Initiative Foundation’s joint Economic Development District/West Central Initiative Board meeting to provide a legislative update and discuss regional challenges, as well as join the Board for a fish fry and more discussion.
I also attended the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) Summer Conference and introduced and moderated a presentation about Manufactured Housing Communities from Dave Berglund at CoNorth Homes (formerly North Country Foundation).
I’m still planning to do a couple more member visits yet this fall to talk more about the challenges and opportunities in your communities, so more to come! Also, feel free to drop me a note if you have a ribbon-cutting or community event I could join to learn more about how we can continue to strengthen Greater Minnesota communities.
Best,
Darielle Dannen
